A neighbor noticed her in a yard and asked if Straw For Dogs might offer to help. Volunteers stopped by and, with the adults permission, had fun with the kids in the home, giving this young dog straw, water in a bowl, treats and toys outside in her pen. It was fall and soon -20 below. Volunteers came by again, with a crate and blanket and hope to help the family bring her inside. The young owner was there and realized that she would not be allowed indoors, so she came into our refuge and rehoming program. We renamed this “angel” Ellie Deville. She received positive training to learn about living indoors, in a long term foster home. Ellie was adopted by a dedicated adopter and they now live on the East Coast, where she enjoys couch time as well as walks outside, but now maybe in her Straw For Dogs hoody and booties.
